BENZEMA OVERTAKES PUSKAS IN EUROPEAN CUP GOALS
The French forward is now Real Madrid's fourth-highest scorer in the competition, with 36 goals.
arim Benzema netted the winner in the trip to Sporting CP to become Real Madrid's fourth-highest goalscorer in the European Cup. The forward now has 36 goals to his name in a Whites' shirt in the competition, which sees him overcome
madridista legend, Puskas (35 goals). Only Cristiano Ronaldo, Raúl and Di Stéfano have now scored more than Benzema.
It has taken the Frenchman 68 appearances to has achieve this milestone. His first European goal as a madridista came in November 2009, in a 1-1 draw away to Milan. Since then, Benzema has never failed to score in the Champions League during his eight seasons at Real Madrid: 2009/10 (1 goal), 2010/11 (6), 2011/12 (7), 2012/13 (5), 2013/14 (5), 2014/15 (6), 2015/16 (4) and 2016/17 (2)
