N’Golo Kante knows a thing or two about winning the Premier League and he has identified why our response to the setback at Tottenham is so important.
The midfielder hasn’t tasted defeat very often in this country, either during Leicester’s title-winning campaign last year or what he hopes will be Chelsea’s this, but he stressed why it’s important we get back to on the victory path as soon as possible.
‘For our confidence, to keep our advantage in the league and to fight to stay in front for as long we can,’ Kante said.
‘We are disappointed to see the winning run come to an end, but we have played game after game and now we have dropped three points we are disappointed with that. We have to accept we lost and come back stronger with the desire to win.
‘We don’t think about making another run, it’s just game after game. We have a good team with good character. Now we have to be focused for the next game in the cup and come back in the league with a win.’
After Diego Costa and Pedro failed to link up at the end of a counter-attack in the first half, the pair exchanged words, something Antonio Conte described as ‘normal’ after the game.
Diego Costa too was quick to play down the incident.
‘Pedro is my brother,’ the striker said. ‘There were a few harsh words, yes, but it means nothing. Mr Conte knows this.
‘We play as a team. There are no individuals. There is a very good spirit in the team and we are all on good form and show good spirit.’
